BACKGROUND SUMMARY
I first encountered GIS in the early 1997s while working on my Msc (Environmental Remote Sensing and Cartography) at Madurai Kamaraj University at Tamilnadu. I have became acutely aware of the challenges of applying GIS to coastal environments when presented with the first such data set collected from beach profile and shoreline change study.I have been a Junior Research Fellow at V.O.Chidambaaram College since 2000. I have completed oceanographic fieldwork in some of the most beach placer mineral resources evolution using GIS techniques. My research interests include application and analytical issues in GIS for oceanographic data, particularly data conversion, management, and metadata; the relationships between marine mineral formation related to coastal geomorphology, hydrothermal, and tectonic processes at coastal areas; the analysis and interpretation of data from coastal mapping systems; and the geography of Cyberspace.
